Breaking Down the Gender Stereotypes

Good day lovely people!

Lately, men have been stirring up the news because they are wearing dresses and skirts. Why is this news worthy? Simply put, it is newsworthy because we have created a huge divide of what genders are “supposed” to do.

I am starting a series today about breaking down the gender stereotypes. There are so many stereotypes that have occurred over the years and so many different ways that I have been judged and made fun of throughout my life because I was ‘Not Masculine’.

Here are some of the topics the I would like to tackle:

  • Dresses and skirts are for women
  • Nail polish is for women
  • Makeup is for women
  • Crossed legs are not for men
  • Sitting vs Standing in the bathroom
  • Clothing is gendered
  • Razors are gender specific
  • Toys are gender specific
  • Crocheting/Knitting and Sewing are for women
  • Skill-sets are gender based.
  • Hunting is manly
